Cogeneration based on biomass allows production of sustainable electricity and heat for the local district heating network. Many utility companies prefer CHP plants with an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC), which includes a hot oil system and a turbine. This system is especially suitable for plants with a capacity below approx. 30 MW as it is a simple system that is easier to operate than a Steam Turbine Generator (STG) set.
