The green transition is coming to the South of France

Major things are happening in one of the oldest cities in Provence, Salon de Provence, where a new multifunctional and sustainable heating plant is under construction. Dall Energy, in partnership with Groupe Coriance and its subsidiary Salon-de-Provence Energie Verte (SEV), is constructing a heating plant in the city.

The small town is a well-known and historical gem with a medieval quarter situated on top of a hill. With a well-preserved castle, Château de l'Empéri, and a former famous resident in the form of astrologer and mystic Nostradamus, the city attracts many tourists every year. The future heating plant will be producing 10 MW of heat and supply it to around 6890 households.

The choice was Dall Energy:

High fuel flexibility and adaptability

Coriance selected Dall Energy as a supplier because of the significant flexibility which our gasification technology possesses whether it regards fuel supply or the synergy with other sustainable energy sources. In addition, the very high efficiency that our technology delivers also played a significant role.

Coriance combines different methods of renewable energy production in the form of Dall Energy's biomass gasification furnace, boiler, quench scrubber and heat pump, in combination with a solar thermal system and a backup furnace that can be run on biodiesel.

Dall Energy's gasification furnace has the unique advantage that it can vary the load range between 10% and 100% and can be turned up and down quite quickly, making it possible to optimise plants that use different heat sources such as solar thermal heating.

The fuel for the plant will come from the local area, where the biomass stove is able to use e.g. garden/park waste, wood chips, bark, crushed pallets, etc. The back-up furnace uses biodiesel in the form of sunflower and rapeseed oil.

Two green companies join forces

Groupe Coriance is one of the leading companies in France specialising in renewable energy production.

For 25 years, the company has been at the forefront of supporting industry and the public sector in the green transition.

The company achieves this by constructing, developing and expanding the district cooling and district heating network, as well as spreading renewable energy sources such as biomass and geothermal energy.

The partnership between Groupe Coriance and Dall Energy therefore fuses a common mission of expanding renewable energy production, with biomass technology at its centre.
